Urdu Mazahiya Mushaira & dinner on Saturday, September 28, 7:30 – 9:30 pm. Rūng ā Rūng is offering an exclusive evening of Mushaira and dinner for the shawkeen adults—the literary elites who appreciate Urdu humor, literature, and art in a setting that emulates their homeland. The poetry is themed around truck art and the famous verses written on the trucks in Pakistan. These verses provide ample entertainment as humor, satire, and “words from the wise.” Mushaira and dinner is for adults only, ages 18 and above. Each $75 Mushaira ticket includes admission for a family of 4 to the Rūng ā Rūng-tea & truck art, daytime event on Saturday or Sunday.

What is Rūng ā Rūng – tea & truck art? (daytime event?)

Rūng Ā Rūng means “colorful.” Indus Arts Council is creating a colorful cultural experience for Houston families to indulge in the nuances of Pakistani tea and truck art culture. Bring your family for an immersive experience into the culture of Pakistan through its regional teas and colorful truck art. Many Asian and Eastern countries use tea in their daily lives almost ritualistically, as an element to cleanse or commune. Tea in Pakistan takes on a unique stance where it is essential to hospitality and weaving bonds of friendship and longterm relationships between strangers and families. Stroll through the food street and enjoy delicious teas and samosas. Participate in arts and crafts with your children, while being entertained with dances and fashion show. Lineup for a rickshaw ride and delicious ethnic food from food trucks. Browse and buy original truck art by local artists of Houston—the colorful truck art that has transformed transport branding into pop art in Pakistan.
